A shooter that ignores the pinned-shooter penalty: with an enemy next to it, it still fires at full strength. Fear lowers the attack of every enemy beside it, which blunts whatever reaches it.
What the numbers mean
- One Mage costs 130 gold; a full stack of 4 costs 520 gold and has 72 hit points. 1000 gold, the quick battle’s draft, buys 7 of them.
- Only the front rank strikes: at most 5 of a stack hit at once, more than a stack of 4 can hold, so every one of them strikes, so a full stack deals 24–40 before attack and defence are counted.
- Attack above the target’s defence adds damage and attack below it takes damage off; How to play has the exact rule.
- It shoots up to 8 tiles and, unlike other shooters, does not lose damage with an enemy next to it. A shot draws no swing back.
Keywords
- Fear. Enemies next to it fight at 3 less attack.
Where to hire it
In Conquest, the Vale Host hire Mages at the town’s Lantern Spire (1500 gold, 5 ore, 2 crystal to build) and the Star Hermitage dwelling on the map, 2 a week. In the quick battle it is bought in the draft, with gold only.
Against every other fighter
The game’s own strike preview on an open board, keywords on and no hero powers: a shot from 4 tiles away, no enemy next to the shooters. Damage and kills are the low and high roll; the swing back is what the target’s survivors hit back with.
